Adv animation

Heres my first go at using Syntheyes and putting 3D models into footage.

it all went ok, obvioulsy loads of tweaking still needed but for a 1st project i think it went ok.

all the footage was actually filmed in day light and i used After effects to try make it into a night time scene

Green Website

After finishing Uni i though i'd have a dig around and clean up my laptop and i came across my very 1st website!!

I made this in A level and then added some extra bits in the 1st year of university. My Flash knowledge has improved (a bit) since then but its always good to look back and see where you started i think.

A mate stated that it's very green, meaning the color (he has no website knowledge) and i think that statement just suits the site perfectly, it is green in every aspect of the word, but just like the color its a good way of comparing the growth in my skills.

Since then i've only had a few projects involving Actionscript but look forward to the next big project which allows me to perfect my Actionscript skills.

This is the print version of the poster i created. The colors are a lot lighter than the original version because of the way the ink came out, i might upload the original version later.

Cannon Blast

This is the final video i submitted for my project, i classed it as more of a pre-vis or work in progress due to the minor errors it still has but im still quite proud of it considering i did it all myself, most happy about the new techniques and skills i picked up, and hopfully now unis nearly over i'll have more time to improve on them.

Thanks to all those who have helped me.

Coat sim

Have the all the problems i have had with help from Li i have finally been able to get a basic simulation.
The coat is still really big i think which is effecting the way it is simulated and so i will try increasing the wind strength
on the next attempt

Coat Mesh-v2 ii

The new method of applying a push modifier and a simple physique modifier is starting to work and might be able to provide basic actions.

CS5!!!

arrgh Adobe are bringing out cs5 in a few days!!!
currently have LOTS of problems with cs3 and cs4 due to the fact i have a trail for cs4 at home and uni are using cs3.
and as im sure a lot of people know cs4 after effects isn't backwards compatible..perfect.

so this is about the 5th time i have had to rebuild this cs3 file just because i get lazy double click the file and it defaults
open with cs4 and so when i close it and open it with cs3 it tells me i need to update!!!!!!

but back to cs5! this looks coool. the cs4 photo shop preview was of content aware as well but i never really used it much, due to it
being a bit tricky i think, or it never poped into my head to use it but i think this looks well handy.

Coin IV

This is the first render of the 3d Coin i've been working on.
I think the result is ok, could do with some more texture work but considering the time i have left i think it will do.

Coin III

Another up date on the coin.

This model isn't really taking me as long as i thought it would. it is pretty straight forward, I have moved through the pipeline with barely any problems. I then proceeded to export the mesh into ZBrush so that i could create some fine detail and basic texture mapping before I render the necessary footage.

Project report 02

The work in progress report was a probably best described as a wake up call.
Simon and Duncan was unimpressed with the work i had currently created, this was probably brought on with the fact that there was no Internet in the room where we did the presentation. Due to the lack of communication i had with the lecturers i had missed several major factors and classes such as how to product the presentation and how important the presentation of the presentation was. The lack of preparation i had for this presentation and the feedback i received from the lecturers highlighted the importance of talking with my supervisors to ensure i was proceeding along the correct routes to achieve my goals.
After discussing with them my options they suggested that it was best to move on from the cloth and to leave the client and it was more important to produce a final product. I felt that leaving the client was the best route because all communication had stopped for a while but didn't agree that leaving the production of realistic cloth was an option. I had spent a lot of time on it and it was somthing i wanted to achieve.

I've decided to back date this blog and now keep it upto date so that i have a method of recording my progress and so that others can also see the routes i have taken. this will replace creating a Gantt chart. i understand that t is not as detailed and it will not provide me with a lot of usefull tools but with it being visual and dated i feel it will benefit me a lot more.
